Problem Gambling - A Growing Challenge

Over the past decades the gambling industry has been transformed thanks to new technologies that opened the door to many new platforms, multi-national operators and ever more innovative gambling offers. As a result the number of individuals using such gambling possibilities has increased sharply and inevitably the industry also witnessed a growing number of problem gamblers.

In the past few years this has lead to ever stricter regulation and compliance burdens and an increasing number of court cases relating to operators and players.

Although some regulators have developed some national systems to address the needs of the industry, and although operators generally embrace their responsibility to protect consumers from the risks related to gambling addiction, no truly effective solution is available to the industry.
